What’s The Level of Your Passion?
What is passion?
Passion is an unbridled desire that’s is born in the heart of a person when they finally understand what they were born for and what is their task in the mission of life. It is that person that in spite of their adversities, even when death itself shows itself in order to derail them, they will never allow themselves to even think about going back.
I believe that that’s what Jesus felt for us when he decided to die with the mission of redeeming us from sin and setting us free from the wrath of God. Philippians 2:6-11 (NLT) tells us this:
Though he was God,he did not think of equality with Godas something to cling to.
7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;he took the humble position of a slaveand was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form,8 he humbled himself in obedience to Godand died a criminal’s death on a cross.
9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honorand gave him the name above all other names,10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,to the glory of God the Father.
The Apostle Paul was passionate for those he won over and in Galatians 4:19 he tells us this:
Oh, my dear children! I feel as if I’m going through labor pains for you again, and they will continue until Christ is fully developed in your lives.
So then passion is: An inclination, preference or very avid desire for a person. Affliction or suffering; the affliction that Jesus suffered before dying at the cross, according to the dictionary.
When passion dies out, the messenger withers away…
If I warn the wicked, saying, ‘You are under the penalty of death,’ but you fail to deliver the warning, they will die in their sins. And I will hold you responsible for their deaths. 19 If you warn them and they refuse to repent and keep on sinning, they will die in their sins. But you will have saved yourself because you obeyed me. (Ezekiel 3:18-19 NLT)
4 Steps to Revive Our Passion for Souls.
1) Never forget Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.
My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 NLT)
2) Be part, participate of evangelism at your church.
Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth. (1 John 3:18 NKJV)
3) Visit and call your friends with the mission of evangelizing them.
Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” (Matthew 9:35-38 NLT)
4) We must have the mind of Christ.
Satan will use everything he has in his hands to change the mind of Christ in us for one that is religious, indifferent, frivolous (shallow), and atrophied so we don’t fulfill the Great Commission.
The reality of every Christian that has come to know Jesus as their One and Only Savior is: that if we don’t feel a true and genuine burden for people that are being lost and are hopelessly going to hell, then something is not right in the way we think in regards to the teachings that Jesus left us. The truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is that we must love God and our neighbor as we love ourselves. The truth is that the church of the Lord is being led by people what love their position, being on display, but are very far away from feeling compassion for people and of laboring in pursuit of them; going after them, being patient with them, discipling them for at least six months in the same vision as the local church.
How many people have you brought to church so far this year? How many in your neighborhood, job, work, school, university know what Jesus did in you? Is evangelism part of your family and life?
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. (Acts 20:24 NLT)
For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts?
Who knows enough to teach him?”
But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16 NLT)
