Should I Vote? Who Should I Vote For?
Devotional JEC
Pastor Darío Eduardo Ojeda
The question in this time of confusion that people tend to ask me the most is: “Should I vote?” and, “who should I vote for Pastor?”
Voting is a duty that every citizen of the nation has (of whatever nation that you are from). Not doing so, is to allow others to decide for us; but each person that does not do it, is a silent accomplice of the bad choices that the temporary dwellers of the White House in the United States of America (or of the Presidential House according to the country you belong to), just as with the Capitol (congress), and of any elected government officials at the local and state level. Remember: The vote is confidential (secret) and personal.
Whom should I vote for?
You’re the one that must choose and no one else can do it for you, but every Christian that is converted to the Gospel of Christ has the obligation to support with their vote every leader that promotes the principles and values of the Bible. In order to know or be better acquainted with the person whom you will be voting for (before you cast your vote), I advise you to first look them up in different platforms or in social media and see what were the laws or projects they presented in order to pass or approve them. There you will know what they believe in, what their values and principles are, and so on.
Many Christians say, “let God choose,” but that’s not the way it works my friend; the people is the sovereign of each nation and chooses its representatives according to their convictions and moral ethics. If we go to the Bible, we’ll be able to visualize in the term “leadership” and “politics” that many times God became upset or displeased with His people, because they chose those who did not preserve divine principles and values.
They were convinced or carried away by what they heard from others, by what was popular, by what represented liberalism, and the breaking of the Lord’s commandments. For this reason, we must be occupied with and busy about teaching our children what it is that God demands of a nation in order to be blessed.
If we don’t do so, if we don’t occupy that place in their heart, then in the schools and universities their friends with influence, those without any life values, with malice and the occult will work to snatch them away from our hands, all the while sowing in them rebellion against principles, values and against authorities; whether those authorities be parents or government and so on.
They set up kings, but not by Me;
They made princes, but I did not acknowledge them.
From their silver and gold
They made idols for themselves—
That they might be cut off. (Hosea 8:4 NKJV)
The church of the Lord must not be absent, it should be present, because the Bible demands that we pray and participate in the times that our nation will raise up a man to govern the homeland, who should have a plan for education, economy, national security, health, religion, freedom of the press, patriotism, immigration, foreign relations, retirement, and so on.
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4 NKJV)
Paul tells Timothy: God wants for everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth… well, I believe, that we should not support, promote nor vote for those who don’t stand with having the nation receive the message of Truth; those that prohibit and forbid churches to be open to worship God.
Did you know that the church is an essential service? Do you know how many have committed suicide, fallen into alcoholism, depression, and anxiety? The church’s task is to provide spiritually for those in need. Well then, how will the church do it if they prohibit and forbid them to open their doors?
We must resist those who say that “the church is spreading hate,” just because we announce the full and transforming gospel of Jesus Christ without adapting it or twisting it for dark or convenient ends or agendas.
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:6-9 NKJV)
The problems nations have lie in the leaders that don’t fear God, which bring suffering and curses to the people they govern. Like those who work to open their borders to globalism, which is responsible for destroying everything that has to do with family, patriotism, borders/frontiers; for there to be a one world religion, to bring about fear, panic and in that way control the thought and morals of humanity, and thus cause us to distance ourselves from the Creator God, and His Son Jesus Christ.
When the righteous rejoice, there is great glory;
But when the wicked arise, men hide themselves. (Proverbs 28:12 NKJV)
Just as the Bible exhorts us to pray for those who legitimately or democratically govern over us, it also alerts us and instructs us to not accept, not negotiate, not allow them to forbid us to announce nor to go against what God teaches us.
And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, 28 saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name [Jesus]? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!”
29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:27-29 NKJV)
I could keep on writing, but I believe that in the biblical concept we have it clear that we should vote for every political leader or spiritual leader that preserves the commandments of our Creator:
- “You shall not kill” – NO to Abortion – (Exodus 20:13; Exodus 23:7; Psalms 106:38; Proverbs 6:16-19)
- To not break the values and principles of the family unit – (Ephesians 6:2-4; Colossians 3:20-21)
- To not promote laziness with social plans/government subsidies/welfare or other social helps for long periods of time that eventually create government codependence. – (Genesis 3:19; 2 Thessalonians 3:10; Prov. 18:9; Ezekiel 16:49)
- To not promote in TV channels, in schools, government sites the LGTB mentality and agenda, promiscuity, and so on. – (Romans 1:25-30; Psalms 101:4; Leviticus 18:22; Jude 1:7; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
- No to corruption and impunity. - (Micah 3:1-4; Micah 6:8; Psalms 82:3; Isaiah 1:17; Proverbs 17:15; Leviticus 19:15; Luke 3:14; Luke 16:15)
- No to adoption for people of the same sex. - (Matthew 19:4)
- No to pedophilia. – (Genesis 6:5; Matthew 18:6; Mark 9:42; Psalms 102:28)
- No to communism and socialism. (Ecclesiastes 5:18-19)
- No to prohibiting or forbidding freedom of religious expression. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
- No to racism. (Acts 10:34-35)
- To recognize that Jerusalem belongs to Israel. (1 Kings 11:32)
- No sex change. (Gen. 1:26-27; Deut. 22:5)
- No to anarchy. (Judges 17:6; 1 Samuel 15:23; 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8)
My precious people, I pray to God that when the time comes for you to take on your responsibility as a citizen of the nation you belong to, of going out to fulfill your civic duty, for God to guide your steps, for your ears to be open to God’s voice in order to be watchful and safeguard biblical principles.
Do not sell out, do not negotiate the eternal for what is temporary. Do not believe those who promise without showing any fruits of what they say and do. Let us remember: “Each person is not what they say they are, but what they do.”
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them. (Matthew 7:19-20 NKJV)
God bless you and God bless the United States of America!!
Bear hugs to all.
